Goldsborough Hall

Goldsborough Hall, a Grade 11 listed 17th century house, was built by Sir Richard Hutton, a prominent London lawyer. Knighted in 1617, he became MP for Knaresborough. During the 1620s he was Sherriff of Yorkshire. This three-storey red brick house stands in 11 acres of gardens designed in a formal style by Richard Woods. Please note; the house is now a fine hotel. The gardens are open to the public once a year under the National Garden Scheme. The notes accompanying each photograph are from a series of lectures first given to the Hebden Bridge Literary & Scientific Society by Mr. George Hepworth around 1916.
