Title

Nunnington, Avenue of Trees - HLS05976

Description

Slide 7 - A beautiful avenue of sycamore trees commencing at the bridge which spans the river Rye and extends to the top of the Caukleys range of hills. This avenue is fully half a mile in length, affording a grateful shade in summer. From the summit there is seen a fine panoramic view rarely to be met with, showing a beautifully wooded country dotted over with farmsteads, churches and hamlets, whilst to the north lies the vast expanse of moors dividing Ryedale from Cleveland, and to the east stretches across the Vale of Pickering, almost reaching to the sea at Scarborough.
