Title
Oakwell Hall, the Great Hall, Looking North West - HLS05982
Description
Slide 4. Entering the Hall through the open porch which is protected inside with a stout oaken door, we enter a passage which extends through the building from front to back. On the left of the passage is a screen. Passing through one of the arched openings in the screen, we find ourselves in an old-world apartment, the walls being wainscoted round in paneled oak, and the upper part of the Hall having a gallery on three sides.
A conspicuous feature is a large open fireplace on the hearth of which logs of wood were formerly burnt. On the opposite side is a large mullioned window with its original leaded glass, and giving abundance of light to the Hall.
