Nunnington Hall

Nunnington Hall, and the nearby parish church, dedicated to All Saints and St James, are both Grade I listed buildings. Since 1952, the hall has been in the ownership of the National Trust and open to the public. Early records of Nunnington can be found in the 13th century, but the Hall, as we see it today, was begun by the 1st Marquess of Northampton, William Parr (1513 – 1571), brother of Queen Katherine Parr, Henry VIII's sixth wife, and one of the most powerful men at the court of Edward VI. The notes accompanying each photograph are from a series of lectures first given to the Hebden Bridge Literary & Scientific Society by Mr. George Hepworth around 1916.
