Description
Slide 8 - Much of the furniture has come down from earlier ages when chairs were polished with elbow grease instead of patent furniture paste, and the plain oak was left to darken and glow with time.
Farnley contains an almost unique collection of old oak chests and a most interesting gathering it is, from the iron bound chests with mighty hinges and locks to the delicately carved and beautifully modeled specimens of later periods. The massive oak furniture and Elizabethan paintings together with the armour and other relics just described, give a real historic grandeur to this fine apartment.
