The station was on the Heaton Lodge & Wortley Railway from Huddersfield to Leeds, which always known as the ‘Leeds New Line’,and it opened at the same time as the line in 1900. Seen here pre-
First World War it only had a short existence being closed for two years during the war and then fully in 1921. The line itself was closed to passenger traffic in 1953 and then fully in 1966.

Buffer Stop, Carriages, Concourse, Island Platform, Lamp, Leeds, MR, Midland Railway, Passenger Train, Platform, Porters Barrow, Railway, Railway Carriages, Railway station, Railways, Station, Station Building, Station Clock, Station Platform, Train Shed, Wellington Station
Built by the Midland Railway in 1846, with subsequent re-builds, it was the first station in Leeds centre. Up until the building of New Station in 1869 it was shared by the London & North Western Railway but thereafter it was used exclusively by the Midland. Seen here late 19th or early 20th century and at the end of the platforms is the Booking Hall which was replaced in 1938 with the great art deco concourse we still see today. The station closed in 1967 and today the site is the station car park.

Hebden Bridge Station c.1970 - DNT00111
Buffer Stop, Calder Valley, Canopies, Hebden Bridge, Hydraulic Lift, LYR, Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway, Platform, Porters Barrow, Railway, Railway station, Railways, Station, Station Building, Station Canopies, Station Platform, Station Signage
Taken sometime betwen 1966 and 1973; a 1966 photo shows timber sleepers but here they are concrete and the station clock seen behind the second pillar had been removed by the time of a 1973 photo. The small steps on the platform were to assist passengers alighting and boarding from the low platform which was raised mid-1970s. A water crane is just visible far right. Difficult to tell from the b&w image but the station signage at that time would have been in the white on tangerine colouring of BR's North Eastern Region.

The box in this position was built in 1891 when the old 1840 station was completely replaced with the structure we see today. The box was Grade II Listed in 2013 although the balcony walkway and bell have gone and the windows replaced with PVC frames. The hatchery of F & T Lumb can been seen on the right.
