Description
An account of the resource
William Henwood is a retired local authority manager. He lives in Staffordshire but has known and loved Upper Calderdale since the 1970s and is a regular visitor. Encouraged by a friend in Halifax who was volunteering with the National Trust, he started collecting old postcards and photographs of Hardcastle Crags and the surrounding area in the 1990s, and is still doing so.

Promotional postcard date stamped September 1910. The first in a series using this photo published by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway. On the reverse there is the Company's crest but no promotional message.
The photo shows the Walshaw Waterfall near Hardcastle Crags on the stream from Walshaw Head down to Hebden Water which is no longer accessible as the path was washed away in a flash flood in 1989.
