Description
The date on the reverse of this card is 1940 and the buildings on the left remain today, although they are very much cleaner. The buildings on the right were all demolished to make way for the Woolshops development in the 1980s. The building to the right of the lamppost (with the lorry outside) was the bottom market. It sold fruit and vegetables and second hand goods. Postcard dated October 1940.
