Luddenden Foot Church - MCH00187
Description
Postcard dated October 1918. Message reads: Dear Willie, Just a note to say how sorry I were not to send your paper last week the same as usual. I were expecting you coming and this week I left the paper at my work on Friday night, so I am sure you will understand the delay. Hoping to see you before long. I remain yours etc. Annie xx
The road central to the photo is Station Road leading to the former station which is in the foreground. The four storey mill built up from river level has been converted into houses. The major complex of mills behind this mill was most recently trading as "British Furtex". These have now been demolished and the land used for housing. Reportedly closed in 1982, it manfactured durable heavy duty cloth for transport seating; buses, trains and aircraft.
