Title
Lumb Falls, Crimsworth Dean, Hebden Bridge. - WMH01176
Description
A promotional postcard published by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway (L&YR) but unusually it was posted in Ghent, Belgium, to a Ghent address in November 1913. On the reverse as well as their usual discreet promotional message there is a red overprint in French promoting English resorts on the L&YR network as below.
‘Hardcastle Crags can be easily reached from Hebden Bridge Station. The district is of remarkable interest, abounding in woods and streams. Cheap tickets are issued to Hebden Bridge by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Company.’
Underneath in red:
'Chemin de fer Lancashire & Yorkshire (Angleterre)
Visitez les plages renommees de Blackpool, Southport, Morecambe et l’Ile de Man, et voyagez par la route de Zeebrugge-Hull. Service regulier au 3 Octobre 1913.’
Which translates:
‘Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway (England)
Visit the renowned beaches of Blackpool, Southport, Morecambe and the Isle of Man, and travel by the Zeebrugge – Hull route. Regular service to the 13th October 1913.’
