Description
Grade II
House, dated 1763. Hammer dressed stone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys with single storey attached building to rear. South front has 3-bay symmetrical facade. Quoins, plinth, band and 2-light flat faced mullioned windows with plain stone surrounds. All have raised stone work. Central bay has doorway, which retains the original repositioned monolithic jambs, altered to wide French window. Over is decorative date plaque inscribed " K ". To either side sash I S windows. Gable stacks. Left hand return wall is watershot and has 1st floor taking-in door (blocked) and former cross-window. 2-light window to apex. Quoins on this face are flush. Attached to rear is gabled building which has quoins, doorway with tie-stone, and 6-light chamfered mullioned window with king mullion. Gable stack. This rear single storey building was a dye house and may be slightly earlier than the main house. The interior of this rear building has principal truss with a diagonally set ridge. A large fireplace with plain stone surround survives. House has staircase with ramped handrail and paired turned balusters to each riser.
