To the right hand side of the photo is St. James - Hebden bridge Parish Church, with the now demolished Mytholm Hall in front of it. The Eaves Silk Mills can be seen above the church. To the left centre is Mytholm Mill (Browns Mill) with its detached chimney built high up the hill to increase the through draught. The house in the fore ground is Stubbing House and cottages, which were formerly warehousing to the canal side.

The houses in the bottom left hand corner are in Savile Road which winds up the hillside, with Glen View being the uppermost terrace. Heptonstall can be seen above Hell Hole Rocks in the top right hand corder

In the centre left of the photo is Hebden Bridge Parish Church - St James the Great, with Mytholm Hall in front of it. The road curling round to the left leads to Mytholm Steeps and Blackshaw Head. Central to the photo is Bankfoot Mill adjacent to the river Colden, demolished in the 1960's ? The diagonal terrace of house form Adelaide Street. The terrace in the right hand corner are houses of Trinity and Eton Streets - back to back houses. The "red" brick mill and its stone neighbour are at the end of Stubbing Holme Road. The large building by the side of the road was a car dealership and garage. The buildings in the bottom left hand corner make up Stubbings Square.

Further to the right is the King Street, area of Hebden Bridge. In the foreground to the right hand side is the Hebden Bridge Parish Church dedicate to Saint James the Great. There is also Mytholm Mill (Browns Mill)

Bankfoot Mill is still there but Eaves Mills, above the Church, have gone as has Bankfoot Lower Mill. The tower of Heptonstall Church can be seen behind Hell Hole Rocks. Bankfoot Garage has been built. Original loaned by Gail Hartley, Elphaborough Hall, Mytholmroyd.

The house in the lower centre of the photo was a Lock Keeper's House on the Rochdale Canal. To the right-hand side of the Photo is Mytholm Hall with behind it the Parish Church of Hebden Bridge - St. James the Great, and behind that the two Eaves Silk Mills. The large mill left of centre was at one time occupied by John Pickles and later by Browns.
