It has been a registered charity since 2003 to further its aims “of disseminating information about the Lancashire &amp; Yorkshire Railway using historical information to educate and inform the community at large about this part of our national heritage.” The Society holds a large collection of photographs and drawings and other information about the L&amp;YR in its archive for either historical research or railway modelling.
