Title

Opening the New Telephone Exchange - YSC00231

Description

This photograph was taken at the opening of the new Telephone Exchange in Hebden Bridge with Mayor Sheila Doyle and two members of the KONG (Keep Our Name Group), Yvonne Dumsday and Erica Bowker, who battled to keep the prefix "84" in the new 6-digit telephone numbers and keep "Hebden Bridge" in the terlephone directories instead of becoming "Halifax".
