NAME: HINCHLIFFE MILL
LOCATION: Hinchliffe Mill

CONDITION: Fully used
APPROX DATE OF SITE AND BUILDINGS: Late 19C/early 20C (site earlier)
DESCRIPTION/HISTORY: Possibly a fulling mill site, a woollen mill was certainly established here by the 1820’s. It was bought by the present owners c 1875. Main mill building is three storeys, stone built with shortened square chimney built into it. Various other buildings mostly dating from the early 1920’s when much of the site was rebuilt after a fire. Also small weaving shed and a large dam.
PRESENT USE AND POTENTIAL: The site is fully used for textile manufacturing by the long established company here. Also mill shop on the site.
