Title
Todmorden Bus - TAS00124
Description
An interesting shot of WT1843, new in May 1924. A Leyland SGH2 with a Phoenix body built locally at the body building/repair shed on Phoenix Street, Todmorden, across the main road from Millwood Depot. Seen here making a left turn into Rochdale Road from Halifax Road before the shops on the corner, including the Corner Café, were demolished in the 1970s to make way for the junction widening and installation of a traffic roundabout.
Note the policeman on point duty wearing his waterproof cape. The viewer can see the gold outlining on the bus liveries of this period, which always finished them off well.
St Mary's Church is off right.
