1914-1919 - To Commemorate with Honour and Appreciation the Service of our Boys in the Great War. The 16 men in the inner panel gave their lives.

Sam, Gracie, nee Hartley, and their daughter Ethel who sadly died of typhoid when only 16 years old. They are all buried in Heptonstall Methodist Churchyard.
Claude Served with the Kings Royal Rifle Corps in the first world war. He is in uniform here so this was possibly taken in about 1915. He would have been 18 in 1915 and Gladys would have been 21 and Monica 15.
