Title

Oakwell Hall, Framed Placard in Hall - HLS05986

Description

Slide 8. The accompanying photograph shows a copy of this placard. Revisiting the Hall, a short time after, I found the framed placard had mysteriously disappeared, also one of the stag's horns had been broken off, and these, and also the placard could not be found, and all enquiries that I made, failed to elicit any clue to their discovery. Fortunately, both myself and my friend, the late Mr John James Stead, had previously each made photographs of the placard in question, and an enlarged copy of it was supplied by Mr Stead and this copy of the original is the one at present hung in the Hall.
