The Rev John Foster, Essayist - HLS05119

Description

HLS05119. Born in 1770 to a farmer and weaver near Halifax and at about 17 he attended the Rev John Fawcett's Particular Baptist Academy at Brearley Hall. From there he went to the Baptist College but after several positions as a Baptist Minister he turned to literature. He became a regular contributor to the 'Electic Review' and published several successful essays. He died in 1843 at Stapleton near Bristol.
