The old Hole in the Wall pub on Oldgate at the bottom of Buttress. Demolished and replaced by new pub in the 1890s.

The Royal Electric Theatre' on New Road opened in 1913 on what is now the Memorial Gardens. It ceased as a cinema June 24th 1921 when the present day Picture House opened.

The ancient Pace Eggs plays were performed in Heptonstall and Hebden Bridge on Good Fridays. The practice has been re-introduced in Hebden Bridge by pupils from Calder High School with an adult caste in Heptonstall. Both draw large crowds.
